Great Power and Responsibility.

The author Stan Lee teaches us the moral in the Spiderman series, "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility."

While I have not been able to find any modern origin to that phrase, variations on the phrase “To whom much is given, much is expected” have been used often throughout history.

Some folks believe it is based on the biblical quote of Jesus of Nazareth. In the Gospel According to Luke, Luke records Jesus as saying, "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more."  (Luke 12:48).

Regardless of the origin, it is a powerful phrase. I have often used the line "With great power comes great responsibility" in discussing technology in general, and the internet in particular.  As there have been many changes in the world over the last 20 years, we need to understand the power, and responsibility that comes with these changes.

Just as the origin of the phrase can be traced back many years, the lessons that follow here are much older than modern technology. A lot of this new wave and Web 2.0 technology incorporates many old school philosophies with modern technology,
